Middle and Elementary School
No time like the present!
Middle school is where your family should start thinking about how to pay for college and if your student is going to attend in state or out of state college. Unless there is a really good reason to go out of state it is much more affordable to attend in state. Remember, we are striving for the least amount of student debt.
While in elementary school or before the only concern is putting money away. It is uncertain as to how much money you will need or how much aid you will qualify for. Make sure you place your college fund in a place that won't count against you for financial aid and you can use for your retirement without a penalty. If you use all of the programs available to your family, guess what?.. you get to keep the college fund to add to your retirement!
